Where is Curly?

During a meeting today, the host was asking who joined the conference call...

host: "Hello, who just joined the call?"
person A: "this is Larry"   (Larry Hirsch, an engineering lab manager)
person B: "this is Mo"   (Mohamed Rezvani, a program manager)
....
....
....
After the roll call was done, a colleague suddenly commented:

"Where is Curly?"

Almost everyone in the room started laughing.  I didn't get it.  Then someone explained to me that this is a reference to the 3 Stooges show, and this coincidence made the perfect setting for the joke.

Worst Inventions

Time.com 上有個文章: The 50 Worst Inventions.  看完後不禁讚嘆人類真是聰明的生物, 除了發明很多 ground breaking 的技術和文明, 也發明了很多廢物.  這些浪費了時間, 金錢, 還為地球造出了多餘的垃圾.  而這些廢物發明還附帶著對人類文明極大負面影響的效果, 可恥啊可恥.

幾個我覺得值得一提的爛發明:

Subprime Mortgages:  堪稱這次經濟衰退的最大罪魁禍首.  無疑的是 Wall Street 產生的最爛發明之一.

Farmville:  其實我個人認為還可以包括其他的延伸產品例如: 開XX場, 神XX麻將, 各種雜七雜八的測驗小遊戲.  這些不僅浪費時間, 更加浪費 Facebook 的版面.  你有否經驗一上 Facebook 整個版面全部都只有 Farmville 的 message?  荒唐至極!  一律 block app.

Foursquare: creepy stalking app to the next generation!  enough said.

Venetian-Blind Sunglasses : Are you kidding me!!?? It is not even a glasses.  It doesn't block UV, doesn't block sunlight, oh yes, it DOES block 50% of your vision, well done!  我首推最爛發明!  而且還有個 Kanye West 代言, 哦買嘎.

我看 Conan O'Brien

雖然我不是看那麼多的美國電視, 但是我也知道脫口秀節目是美國人重要的文化之一.  偶爾打開電視轉到譬如像 David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien 等等會稍微停下來看看, 但也不是特別的迷.

最近看到了 Conan 到 Google 的影片.


我還滿喜歡Conan 的搞笑方式的.   他有那種 nerdy 又 geeky 的 fuu, 難怪 high tech geeks 那麼喜歡.

而且他最近開始在 Twitter 的平台建立搞笑的另一個境界, 據他自己本人說用僅僅 140 字母也可以搞笑那真的不是那麼容易的事.  希望他過一陣子在新的 TBS Network 的 show 能有機會看.
